শাইখ ‘উবাইদ আল-জাবিরী (হাফিযাহুল্লাহ):
ওই ব্যক্তির সাথে আমরা কিভাবে আচরণ করবো যার ব্যাপারে কিছু সংখ্যক ‘আলিম ভালো ধারণা পোষণ করেছেন অথবা যিনি বিদ’আতিদের বিরুদ্ধে লিখার কারনে প্রশংসিত হয়েছেন কিন্তু তার বাহ্যিক কর্মকান্ড (‘আলিমরা যে কারনে তাকে তাযকিয়্যা দিয়েছেন) সেই তাযকিয়্যার বিরোধী কারন তিনি সালাফীদের বিরুদ্ধে মিথ্যাচার করেছেন এবং তাদের আক্রমণ করেছেন, এবং তাদেরকে আজেবাজে নামে নামকরণ করেছেন, এমনকি কিছু সংখ্যক ‘আলিম এবং অন্যান্যদের ব্যাপারে মিথ্যাচার ও করেছেন? এমন ব্যক্তির সাথে আমরা কিভাবে আচরণ করব?
উত্তর: আহলুস-সুন্নাহর ‘আলিম এবং ইমামদের উপর আকাশ থেকে ওয়াহী নাযিল হয় না! বরং তারা শুধুমাত্র বাহ্যিক দৃষ্টিতে কোনো কোনো ব্যক্তির সুন্নাহ’র অনুসরণকে দেখে যেমন আহলুস-সুন্নাহ এবং তার অনুসারীদের প্রতি তার সমর্থন অথবা সুন্নাহর বিরুদ্ধাচারীদের বিরুদ্ধে তার লিখা বই-পুস্তক ইত্যাদির ভিত্তিতে তার প্রশংসা করে থাকেন।
এরপর যদি তিনি (প্রশংসিত ব্যক্তি) পথভ্রষ্ট হয়ে যান অথবা সুন্নাহ’র অনুসারীদের বিরোধিতা শুরু করেন এবং বিদ’আতিদের পক্ষে কাজ করেন এমনকি তাদের সাথে মিত্রতা পোষণ করেন এবং তাদের আশ্রয় দেয়া শুরু করেন, তখন তারা (অর্থাৎ আহলু-সুন্নাহ’র ‘আলিমরা) তার সাথে উপযুক্ত আচরণ করে থাকেন। এবং আপনি (অর্থাৎ প্রশ্নকারী) তাযকিয়্যার ব্যাপারে যা জিজ্ঞেস করেছেন তা মোটেও অস্বাভাবিক কিছু নয়। (কেননা) ইমাম শাফীঈ (রাহিমাহুল্লাহ) ইব্রাহীম বিন মুহাম্মাদ বিন আবী ইয়াহয়া’র প্রসংশা করতেন এবং তার কাছ থেকে কিছু বর্ণনা করার সময় বলতেন, “একজন বিশ্বস্ত কেউ আমার কাছে বর্ণনা করেছেন।” অথচ তিনি ছাড়া অন্যান্য ‘আলিমরা তার (ইব্রাহীম বিন মুহাম্মাদ বিন আবী ইয়াহয়া’র) সমালোচনা করেছেন। যেমন ইমাম মালিক এই একই ইব্রাহীম সম্পর্কে বলেছেন যখন তাকে জিজ্ঞেস করা হয়েছিল: “তিনি কি বিশ্বস্ত?” তিনি বললেন: “না! বরং তার দ্বীনের ক্ষেত্রেও না।”
অতএব ইমাম আশ-শাফীঈ’ কতৃক কারো প্রশংসা করাটা কোনো ক্ষতি বয়ে আনবে না। বরং আমাদের কাছে ইমাম আশ-শাফিঈ একজন ইমাম যার মর্যাদা সম্পর্কে আহলুস-সুন্নাহ’র সবাই অবগত। কিন্তু (এরপরও) তার দেয়া তাযকিয়্যা ইব্রাহীম বিন মুহাম্মাদ বিন ইয়াহয়াহ’র কোনো কাজে আসেনি যেহেতু (অন্যান্য) ‘আলিমরা তার ব্যাপারে সমালোচনা করেছেন। তাই এইক্ষেত্রে মূলনীতি হলো: “যিনি জানেন তিনি তার বিপক্ষে প্রমাণ যিনি জানেন না”

His Actions Contradict His Praise (Tazkiyah)

Question: How do we deal with the one whom some of the scholars praised due to having good thoughts of him or due to him writing against someone from the People of innovation. However his actions contradict this praise (tazkiyah) with lies and attacks against the Salafis and by hurling bad names at them, even lying on some of the scholars and other than that? How do we deal with such an individual?
Answer: The Scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah and their imams, revelation does not descend upon them from the sky! Rather they praise whom they praise due to that which the person outwardly manifests from Sunnah and his defence of the Sunnah and its people, as well as his publishing of books in refutation of the opposers of the Sunnah. Based on this they praise him due to what he outwardly manifests.
So if he deviates from this and begins to deal with the People of Sunnah with hostility and makes his allegiance with the People of innovation and defends them, then they (Scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah) deal with him accordingly. And this which you (the questioner) have mentioned from tazkiyah is not strange. Imām Shāfi’ī used to praise Ibrāhīm bin Muhammad bin Abī Yahyā and would say about him when narrating from him “One who is reliable narrated to me.” Whilst scholars other than him criticised him. Imām Mālik was asked about this same Ibrāhīm. It was said: “Is he reliable?” He said: “No! And likewise not in his religion!”
And so the praising of Imām Shāfi’ī doesn’t bring about harm! Imām Shāfi’ī is with us an Imām and with every person from Ahlus-Sunnah who knows his status. However, his tazkiyah does not benefit Ibrāhīm bin Muhammad bin Abī Yahyā because the scholars criticised him. And the principle rule is: “Whoever knows is a proof over the one who doesn’t know.”
